The Next Big Thing!!!!

Ten Interview Questions for The Next Big Thing:

What is the working title of your book?

Witches are People, too...

Where did the idea come from for the book?

Reading on forums about the misconceptions and funny things that happen to those who practice Wicca and Paganism and my favorite TV show "Covert Affairs"

What genre does your book fall under?

Paranormal Romance

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

When technology meets witchology chemistry becomes the science of choice.

Where do you plan to submit your book, or will you self published it?

I have several epublishers that I work with.  This particular manuscript is still very much a WIP and I haven't totally decided where I will be going with it.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

Oh dear...ummmm...still working on that with this one.  I have to find the right rhythm but once I do it will snap itself out.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Hmmm...I have no idea in all honesty.  I would hate to compare myself to any of the great authors in the genre at all, so I don't know that I have one to compare it to.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

My love of all things funny and supernatural.  As I continue forward in my writing career I discover that the smallest of things can inspire the greatest of stories.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

There will be intrigue, romance and lots of laughter to go with this story.

Welcome Victoria Adams

Hi, I'm Victoria Adams and I've brought along my latest – Dancing in Circles.
My cover was created by cover artist extraordinaire – Fantasia Frog.

I love it because if portrays what Dancing in Circles is about. It shows the joy Julie feels when she dances. She's only known one passion – dance, then he walked in her life. Robert's past matches the dark colour of his hair and eyes. A life without love, until he allowed her through his defences.

Blurb – Dancing in Circles is the story of two prep school students, one from privilege, the other from poverty and how fate threw them together while society tried to rip them apart.

Wonderful Scents in the Kitchen

Not only am I cooking...so new and wonderful scents are floating around from the oven and stove, but I am mixing up lotions and potions.  New at A Touch of Magick, my real life's body shop, are lotions. Easily absorbed, not oily and such fun creative scents to mix.  The darling Denyse Bridger asked for Brown Sugar and Cinnamon, so with much trepidation and delight, I began mixing.  My kitchen smells divine now.  Going to have to make something to eat with that combination since it smells so good.

However, this is what came of it:
Silky, smooth skin that smells like it should be in a bakery or a coffee shop or anywhere there are edible delights.

Also made a very male type scent for a friend of mine who needed an after shave lotion.  Lemongrass with a hint of ginger.  He loves it.  Doesn't cause him to break out and smells great on him.  No residue or oily feel to his face after he puts it on or to the touch.

Stop by the shop and see what we can create for you.

And yes, when I'm not lotioning I am writing...like a demon.  Have almost two finished and have begun a third...so be on the lookout for those as well.

Great Guests today... come by

1. How long have you been writing?
Benjamin Russell: I write business briefs and proposals in the real world.
I’ve been waiting for a chance to make reference to the real world. I’ve been
doing business writing for quite a while and I’m damn good at it. Anyway,
I’ve always loved to read, comic books, Sci-Fi, Romance , even the articles
in Playboy. *Snickers* So, one day I decided, what the heck – I want to try
writing for fun. The transition from business writing to fiction writing hasn’t
been easy, but I think my past writing experience has given me a running
start.

Michelle Chatton: I have always been writing something, just never believed
I could write professionally. I write in a journal everyday and Ben believed it
was good enough to make into stories.
2. How long have you been a published author?
Michelle Chatton: Since February 20th, I believe. LOL Is that right Benjamin?

Benjamin Russell: Yes, we achieved that milestone together on 2/20.
3. What titles do you have available?
Michelle Chatton: This is the first but we will be doing more in the series and
are working on other WIPs.

Benjamin Russell: I like these questions – Michelle is doing all the talking.
*Snickers*
4. Do you have any new titles coming soon?
Benjamin Russell: Michelle and I are currently working together on a
novella called the Seduction of Laura and we’ll be putting the finishing touches
on Booty Call 2 – Truth or Dare.

5. What is your favorite genre and why?
Michelle Chatton: I love all genres so it would easier to ask what I don’t
like.lol I don’t like horrors, serious murder mysteries or pure inspirational
stories.

Benjamin Russell: I love all genres as well, but if I have to choose a favorite –
it would now be the genre known as Urban Fantasy. This genre encompasses
a little of everything, there is paranormal, erotica, romance – you name it and
you can find it embodied in Urban Fantasy.
6. What, to you, is the most exciting part of the writing process?
Michelle Chatton: I love the whole process but if I had to pick one, it would
be the End. Then I get to see it all put together. LOL

Benjamin Russell: I enjoy the inception part the most. My wicked Muse often
wakes me up in the middle of the night whispering new story ideas in my ear.
My Muse, I call her Jezebel, doesn’t like to share me with anyone, not even
sleep. She strokes me so gooood with these ideas, that I’m always the most
excited at the start of a new story. Readers can find out more about Jezebel
by clicking on the embedded link in her name.
7. If you could co-author a book with anyone, who would you choose and why?
Michelle Chatton: I have been lucky, I have co-authored with the person
I would want to and who I would have chosen. I would also love to write
something with any of my author friends. Heather Rainier would be the
dream.

Benjamin Russell: Michelle and I just clicked, she has a naughty imagination
and between the two of us – we can create some wild scenarios. I am delighted
that she was my ‘first’. I’ve signed up to co-author four separate projects with
a few of my other author friends. Currently, I’ve committed to working with
Jade F. Baiser, Katie Harper, Bonni Sansom and Cassandre Dayne.
8. Where can readers find you on the web?

Blurb
So what is a strong-willed, Bi-BBW supposed to do when she decides she wants to
have a MMF ménage to celebrate her birthday? She makes a Booty Call to her bi-
sexual male co-worker and her hot Dom ex-lover.

Victoria Carter has finally broken free from a destructive relationship, now she wants to
explore her sensuality and her sexuality to the fullest. Ready to meet the world head on,
this is just the beginning of her sexual adventures.

Excerpt:

Vicky arched her back and her head lolled to the side. “Winston, ooh baby, I am
soooo close. If you keep doing that I am going to come, I am going to come so hard.”
She whimpered breathlessly.

Steel vibrated in Winston’s voice. “No, you don’t come until I tell you to.” The touch of
menace in his voice sent a furtive thrill to Vicky's moist core and surprisingly, she found
the hint of danger in his voice to be arousing.

“Yes Sir,” she said, assuming the submissive role easily from pure habit.
Vicky let out a long sigh as he slowly pulled his finger from her pussy’s clinging
grasp. He stared at his cream covered finger lovingly before he turned his gaze on her
and met her eyes directly.

Transfixed, she watched him stick his finger in his mouth and suck off all her cream.
A look of crazed lust washed over his face as he tasted her juices and the erotic
expression sent undulating ribbons of desire shimming down her spine. She peered at
him through hooded eyes as he dipped a finger back inside her. Vicky’s eyelids fluttered
and then closed as another wave of pleasure racked her body.

This time, when he withdrew his finger glistening with her dew, he held his hand up
to her face. Every cell in her body screamed for her to devour his finger, but she forced
herself to wait. He didn’t have to say it, but she wanted him to give her permission to do
it. He leveled an icy stare at her and his commanding body language spoke to her heart.
Tonight she wasn’t the hotshot attorney who intimidated weak men with her
intelligence, self-confidence and plus sized body. Tonight – in this bed – she wanted to
be a desirable and sensuous woman, giving her trust to a real man. If only for one night,
she wanted a man like Winston to dominate her and use her as he pleased.
Her eyes were soft, open and begging for his approval. “Please.”

“That’s good baby, you’re learning.” He placed his finger at the opening of her mouth
and Vicky smiled when she inhaled her scent. She greedily wrapped her lips around his
finger and sucked it clean.

He moved to the end of the bed and dropped to his knees so he could look between
her legs. Moisture oozed from her and he froze for a moment as his cock bucked at
the sight. He stared at the tantalizing view of her sex, wet with cream. He became
enthralled at the promise of emptying the creamy contents of his balls in her, or all over
her.

He looked up and captured her eyes. “Vicky, tell me what you want.”
She hesitated for just a moment. “Please.”
“Please what?” The displeasure in his voice was evident.
“Please make me come.”
He smiled. “That’s what I needed to hear.”
Winston began to lick his way up the inside of her legs and made a beeline straight
for her beckoning little pussy. Normally, he would have teased her even more, but since
today was her birthday and she’d been a good sub up to that point, he decided to give
her what she needed.

Weekend Success

Okay so my Grasshopper cookies aren't quite as pretty but boy they sure turned out darn good... mmm....

And after these got made the request for waffles came along about brunch time...not wanting to waste the creative bend I was on regular waffles turned into banana chocolate waffles.  There was a total feast to be had by those who were hungry

And of course as my brain was already on the path... I had to try and see if I could make a sugar scrub that would match the wonderful scents from the cookies.  I had major success.  So if you want a yummy sugar scrub that smells like chocolate mint stop by my store.

http://touchofmagick.etsy.com

Not to be stopped (well until I was tired) I decided we needed a parfait...a large one.  So here is the pistachio cool whip, oreo, ganache parfait that we will be having for dessert.

Now I am here, resting.  Ha.  Soon to have to create dinner but that is okay.  Not worried about it.With all of this the boys should be content with whatever I come up with.

Don't forget St. Patrick's Day and Ostara is coming soon and my friends over at Eight Eleven Press have been hard at work.  If you need hand made, letterpress cards for either of those then stop by and see what fun stuff they have cooked up.

Weekend Blog

So today was Friday.  Yep. Friday.  My blog isn't going to go up until Saturday morning.  Hmmm, wonder if that means I should title this yesterday or if I should write about my Saturday.  *imagine me sitting here contemplating*

Friday, was, well Friday.  Started out well enough, then the kids (my students) were crazy...Freshman all day is not something I recommend to anyone.  Had a fantastic afternoon with an amazing friend, came home and am writing a blog.  Not really hungry so thinking I'll skip dinner this evening.

Saturday will be errands day.  I need to get the oil changed, go to the post office, pay the rent and hang with a great friend for a bit.  Of course, this all needs to happen around what the kids need and what others in the house are doing. Not to mention dinner...hmmm.

Oh now I know what I want to talk about today...cookies.  Girl Scout Cookies, homemade cookies, the cookie bouquets you can buy.  All sorts of cookies.  I bought some great Girl Scout Cookies, and then found a Tagalong Parfait recipe that I may try over at one of my favoirte baking blogs, My Baking Addiction (http://www.mybakingaddiction.com/tagalong-peanut-butter-parfaits/)

Thinking it looks like it might be worth taking a gander at...anyone want to try with me?

Oh I'm also making Grasshopper Cookies (http://www.sixsistersstuff.com/2012/02/grasshopper-mint-chocolate-cake-mix.html)

These are happening either this evening or tomorrow afternoon when I get home from my errands.  I was so excited when I saw these.  Grasshopper Mint Cookies are some of my favorites.  I like them better than the Girl Scout Thin Mints I have sitting around right now...hmmm...now I'm thinking baking cookies with 8 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies.  Nah, gotta bake.  Mine are better.

Oh...random thought.  I wonder if I could make a sugar scrub that smells like the Grasshopper Mint Cookies.  Check out http://touchofmagic.etsy.com later to see what I came up witih. Okay, my brain is working in to many directions to keep this up much more.

Let me know what you are baking up this weekend or if you decide to try either of these recipes.  Both of those blogs are amazing.  If you find something else wonderful to try let me know!!!!

Enjoy your weekend and oh Sunday is writing day!  So yes I am still in that business as well.

Blessed Be,

Brigit

Creativity

As an author I find that I am often in the middle of something and all of a sudden I can't write another word.  The worst thing possible, Writer's Block.  Sometimes I can get away with sarting a new story r picking up on astory that I started last time I had writer's block, or finishing one that I got stuck on.  Lately though...that isn't working. I find myself at a loose ends, unable to write, unable to get the story out, unable to do what it is I love doing.  And I get creative buildup.  This is the need to do something creative, to release energy back into the wild.
Sometimes a walk, sometimes meditation, sometimes a focus on a particular deity that I have worked with in the past will help me get past whatever block I have.  The last time I had a block I asked for some guidance and got...a new project.  Yep.  A new project.  Not a book or a story or cover to create.  Nope something else entirely.
I started small, a sugar scrub for the daughter of a friend who had a 16th birthday coming up.  Then a shave oil for a good friend of mine who wanted something specific.  Then a salt scrub, and some body lotion.  Then bath salts for someone I care about.  Then hand salve for guys. And before I knew it "A Touch of Magick" was born.
A shop on Etsy, where these new projects of mine are sitting (and selling).  Along with that, I managed to get over my writer's block.  So now, while bath salts are in the oven, my fingers are flying over the keyboard.  While the double boiler is heating the wax melts and oil, my brain is creating new characters, and while I'm filling glass jars with sugar scrubs that smell heavenly, my eyes are looking for scratch paper to scribble down ideas on.
My shop is at http://touchofmagick.etsy.com if you are interested in seeing what I am cooking up right now, and don't worry, another story or 3 are quickly coming together.
While I'm at it...I have also enlisted a friend of mine.  He does hand pressed cards with a table top letterpress.  He did my thank you cards for me and will be doing up tags for "A Touch of Magick" to go with the products...and business cards (he doesn't know it yet though).  He has some amazing stuff.  Fun, snarky stuff.  The perfect kind.  He is also working on a line of pagan/wiccan cards for the holidays. Stop by Eight Eleven Press and see what great things he has. http://eightelevelpress.etsy.com

Aubrie Comes To Visit

Aubrie Dionne is an author and flutist in New England. After reaching a high point in her flutist career Aubrie decided to pursue other creative passions.

“I’d always loved writing and reading fantasy/sci fi books ever since I was little but I always pushed it aside for flute. I felt like I needed to explore more of my interests in life. Ever since I started writing, I couldn’t stop! I use what I’ve learned about craft, diligence, structure, from my flute playing. It’s exciting to start a new discipline and have no idea where my boundaries are: how far I can go with it, how good I can get.”

Aubrie is represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency. Her short stories have been featured in Mindflights, Niteblade, Silver Blade, Emerald Tales, Aurora Wolf, A Fly in Amer, Moon Drenched Fables and various anthologies.

Her books are published by Entangled Publishing, Lyrical Press, Gypsy Shadow Publishing, and Wyvern Publications.

Hi there Aubrie. Your new book, Tundra 37 sounds very exciting. Can you give us a brief outline of the story?

Gemme is a hi-tech matchmaker who pairs the next generation of Lifers aboard the Expedition, a deep space transport vessel destined for Paradise 18. When the identity of her lifemate pops up on her screen, she’s shocked that he’s the achingly gorgeous and highly sought after Lieutenant Miles Brentwood—a man oblivious to her existence. Believing everyone will think she contrived the match, she erases it from the computer’s memory.

Just as comets pummel the ship and destroy the pairing system forever.

With the Expedition disabled, the colonists must crash land on the barren ice world of Tundra 37 where Gemme is reassigned to an exploratory mission, led by Lieutenant Brentwood. Only in the frozen tundra does she understand the shape of his heart and why the computer has entwined their destinies.

What characteristics do you like best about the heroine in the story?

Gemme is smart and shy, and she has to overcome her inhibition if she’s ever going to complete the mission, or let the man who she loves into her life. She’s not a snarky, aggressive heroine like so many women in books today.

And the hero?

He’s noble to a fault, and although he’s drawn to Gemme, he puts the mission first. He’s simpler than a lot of the heroes I tend to write. He’s not a dark and tortured hero, like Striker from Paradise 21.

Do you like to give your characters faults and failings?

At first I hated it. I wanted them to be perfect. And then everyone would love them! But, then I realized they were had to relate to, and the bad guys were more interesting. I really had to spread the faults around.

What message do you hope readers will get from your books?

Overall, I hope they feel optimistic about the future, even though Earth is no longer inhabitable. I’m hoping it brings attention to the growing population crisis and the depleting resource problem we have today.

Tell us about your work station.

Um…very messy. I have post it notes everywhere, candy, a picture of Jack Sparrow, a fairy godmother figurine, chap stick, and lots of pens and pencils. It helps me work. Yeah. J

What time of day do you work best?

I love writing at night between 9-11 before bed when the house is all quiet and I can lose myself in the worlds I create. If I try to write just before work I’m distracted. Hard to go from alien mammoths to flute lessons, I guess!
Thanks so much, Aubrie.

Thanks for having me!

Prologue
The Seers

I’m losing her.

Abysme guides the vessel in silence, her blind eyes rolling as she senses our course, two hundred years away from Paradise 18. She’s scattered her thoughts among the stars, and her mind drifts farther from the sister I once knew. I fear the machine has engulfed her individuality. She’s forgotten the meaning of our goal, the oath we took three centuries ago. Most of all, she’s forgotten me, creating an emptiness inside me more profound than the desolation surrounding us.

If I had my arms, I’d reach out to comfort her and usher her back from the black abyss spread before us. As children, I kept her alive through the destruction, signing us up for the Expedition and winning two tickets off Old Earth before it succumbed to hell. But can I save her now?

I send impulses through my brainwaves and into the ship. Bysme, do you hear me?

Unlike her, I have one operating eye and can see the control chamber we hang from. Twisting my head, I search her features. Her skeletal face twitches. She writhes and the wires holding her in place stretch taut. I wonder what I’ve done to us, the shock of our disembodiment jolting me. Every input hole drilled into my skull snakes with activity. The ship surges through me, a vast intranet of information, names, status charts, and infinite trajectories. If I couldn’t feel the cold, regulated air on the remnants of my torso, I’d be lost in the machine too. I remind myself of our mission and the perseverance flows into my veins.

She doesn’t respond and the fear wells up from within me. Can I guide the ship alone? I realize I’ve left her at the helm for too long while I drifted into memories.

Status of Beta Prime? Bysme speaks in monotone computer speech as she turns to the corner of the main control deck where the orb glistens, tempting us with the mysteries hidden in the cosmic swirls within its core. Sometimes, I wish we’d blasted the ball off the hull after its tendrils attached to the outer frame instead of recovering it for study. We’ve guarded it for so long, Project Beta Prime has become part of us, yet we’re further than ever from unlocking its secrets. All I know is the insistence of my memories, like ghosts that refused to be ignored.

Unchanged. The weight of my voice in our mindspeak reflects my disappointment. Like everything else.
Bysme falls silent, and I scan the systems searching for answers that aren’t there.

Happy Saturday

I am having a moment of peace and zen.  I have had my transition from high stress job to beginning lower stress job.  Yes this means a little more stress at home as there is also a salary difference, but I am excited for this next week when the changes will actually go into effect.

I started thinking about stress and the changes I have seen in my emotions, my body and my outlook on life since I had the new job.  In doing an actual inventory I realized how much it had changed who I am and not, in most ways, for the better.  Yeah I was glad to lose some weight, but not as much as I have.  Now I have to put some on in order to be healthy again.  And gosh, my whole look on life has been different.  Everything seemed to take time away that I needed for work, and rest was impossible to come by.  My family has suffered, my writing has suffered, my friends have suffered and honestly, I have suffered.

I am looking forward to getting those things back.  To being able to enjoy the brisk, sunny days and the time home to write and talk with people. To get back to the simple, enjoyable things.  Like making dinner for my family and helping with piano practice and homework.

My writing...that is what I am looking forward to as well.  The chance to stop shushing the voices and let them out.  Get their stories told and to the people who love reading them.  I can't wait to be able to sit at the coffee shop and just enjoy the time.  Not rush in and out and worry about what time it is and am I late or do I have a meeting.

Not only that, but the new job...is really an old job...and one I love.  I get to teach High School English, at the Freshman level.  My FAVORITE!!!! I am so looking forward to helping expand their brains, give them love of literature and show them how to make their own characters come to life on paper.  All of that just brings me chills.

Exciting Times Ahead

With the new changes, and the wonderful opportunity being offered to me as I return to the classroom, I am struck anew with how lucky I am.  I have a great family, an amazing set of friends and now some time to do the things I love the most.

I can finish my studies in Wicca, which I had to take a brief hiatus from.  It made me sad that I couldn't continue to learn and be involved in something that I find to be important.

I can finally get back to work on all these 1/2 finished stories I have sitting around.  Yep good news to those who are waiting for Hope's story and maybe another Torrent's Talents.  There are a number of things in the works.

Back to working with my friends and collaborating on projects.

And I can keep a schedule here again. I am going to have guests, and post my own thoughts and in general be around  more.

So starting in a week or so...expect some exciting and fun things to happen again.a
